People often asked: “What brings a person to an astrologer?” Some come out of curiosity or others might be motivated by the belief that the chart might cast some light on how they could fully use their resources and potentials. But in my experience, the majority of people come because they are in some kind of crisis. Something is happening which they are unable to understand or to deal with. Their usual way of trying to solve a problem no longer is working and they feel like they lost their way. Some people come in the hope that the astrologer will wave their magic wand and make everything go away but others see the role of an Astrologer more realistically, as a counselor and guide, someone who may be able to help them find meaning and relevance in what they are facing at this time.

In most cases, times of pain, breakdown or changes correlate with major transits to or from Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and or Pluto. Each of these planets has their own agenda, their own particular type of trauma, test and trial. A conflict earmark by Saturn is different in nature from a crisis involving Uranus, Neptune or the pulverizing Pluto at work. It is like polishing a stone – it either grinds you down or polishes you up.

Dane Rudhyar once wrote: It is not the event that happens to a person, but the person, which happens to the event. Some people are fortunate: even in the midst of great turmoil or despair, they can glimpse the meaning or relevance a crisis has in terms of their soul growth and development, and this understanding helps them to make sense. But sadly a great number of people may never come out of the crisis at all, because they do not understand the lessons.

Our Deeper Self Knows

We all have a deeper Self, which guides, unfolds and regulates our growth and development, which ‘knows’ what we meant to become and the path we need to follow to get there. This is why the birth chart is uniquely useful, for it is a map or guide suggesting what the deeper Self has in mind for us.

If we do not listen to our respecting growth pattern, we are more likely to attract outer circumstances into our lives, which force a change upon us. If we do not understand how we are involved in causing a particular event this means we are working unconsciously and therefore not in control of our circumstances.

The birth chart is a moment frozen in time – a picture of the heavens as it appeared at the time and place of our birth. But the birth chart does not stop moving after birth but continue to evolve

I call my work Journey of a Soul because Astrology suggests that life continues after death. Reincarnation explains many of the mysteries of life, and why some people suffer more than others. Astrology also offers a glimpse of the perfection and wonder of the universe. For anyone who has used astrology for many years, it is proof of the existence of something higher. It verifies the unseen, providing a bridge designed of symbols between the spiritual realm and the earthy one. It is the esoteric translated into symbols.

I have been studying Astrology since 1972 and have been especially interested in Astrology as a tool for transformation and healing. A former nurse I became quickly disillusioned with the medical field and continued my studies in holistic healing, psychology, Eastern philosophy, aromatherapy and flower essence. I have been teaching and given consultations since 1980. I understand that real healing starts on the soul level and requires a deeper understanding of why we are ill. My main teacher was Yada di Shi’te who helped me understand our larger part in the universe and how to access that great inner consciousness to bring healing and peace of mind.

I am available for counseling in person, by phone or through the mail, either written or tape/CD. I work with Chiron the Wounded healer and the Moon’s Nodes to bring more understanding into a chart from a perspective of past lives. We discuss the natal chart and the previous and coming cycles. You are encouraged to participate by asking question. We often go back into the past to understand certain lessons, which have not been acknowledged and are being repeated over and over again.
